UpTown Funk!
What a great jam this is. Tried to give it the look of an older printout with the offset four-colors and paper texture. The pose could use some work but this was a fun drawing.

Learning how to use Illustrator, I did a riff on Patrick Nagel's styles with this picture.

Rocker Girl by Bleu-Ninja
Rocker Girl

"I’m the best and I know it!"

Whatever you may say about the punky, pink-haired Rocker Girl, you can’t ever call her humble! From her clothes to her music, she goes through life with complete confidence in herself. She knows she looks and sounds awesome up there on stage with smoke and lasers flashing all around, and she lives for the way the crowd roars with excitement when she starts playing that next power chord.

The Rocker Girl’s unshakeable self-confidence has always been her greatest strength. No matter what troubles she faces – cancelled shows, electrical failures and bad cases of rockin’ pneumonia – she always powers right on through, knowing that her next performance will be the greatest one yet. And the best thing of all is that she’s right!</i>

--------

The Rocker Girl has always been one of my favorite of the collectible minifigs. Here's a picture I drew of her in all her glorious 80s-ness.

Does anyone even read these things?

Anyways, I was thinking of revisiting some of my older drawings. Doing that classic "draw this again" thing, ya know? I'm coming up on five years on deviantART, and man oh man some of my old stuff is a bit embarrassing to look at. Sometimes I think about just jumping ship to a new account, but I probably won't. Whatever.

In any event, here are some of the ones I was thinking about redoing:
Legend of Korra 'Demon Days' by Bleu-NinjaDuke Nukem vs Johnny Bravo by Bleu-NinjaBatman vs. Bane: 1960s by Bleu-NinjaJohnny Thunder by Bleu-NinjaTarrlok's Doubles by Bleu-NinjaBOLIN SMASH! by Bleu-NinjaA:TLA - Back to the Future by Bleu-NinjaJonah Hex and the Red Dead Kid by Bleu-Ninja
Demon Days: Technically this is still a "work in progress" but I haven't touched it in two years. Everyone but Bolin is off-model (by both Legend of Korra and Gorillaz standards), and the flat colors are hardly evocative of the original style. It would be fun to revisit Jamie Hewlett's style.
Duke Nukem vs Johnny Bravo: One of my most popular pictures. I was just starting with digital painting so Duke looks a bit gray. Also proportions are odd and the posing is bland.
60s Batman vs Bane: Weird proportions and odd layout here. Plus, after reading a lot of Batman '66 it'd be fun to reimagine this one with more vibrant colors and posing.
Johnny Thunder: Technically this already is a redraw, but even at the time I wasn't happy with how it turned out. After his cameo in The Lego Movie I've been itching to draw the adventurer again.
Tarrlok doubles: Ridiculously off-model. However, Tarrlok is kill so there's little incentive to redo this one. (P.S. Check 'em)
Bolin SMASH: This one turned out okay but the faces are odd and I ran out of space on the page. It'd be fun to revisit this on a digital canvas with multiple layers.
ATLA BTTF: Finally got around to seeing the rest of the Back to the Future trilogy and boy was it great. I still think this joke is funny, but the composition is bland as all get out and the picture doesn't really do much to evoke either series.
Jonah Hex and the Red Dead Kid: I saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and read a bunch of Jonah Hex after drawing this. Hex is fun to draw and I think I could do much better on the man.

So those are my thoughts. Any of these (or other old ones in my gallery) you'd like to see redone?

I haven't seen anybody who's read All-New Ghost Rider and hasn't been hooked. Thanks to that book, I can't look at mac and cheese without smiling a little. And I'm looking forward to seeing your art :)
